This variable is part of the Computer Internet Supplement.
Comparability
In 1998 and 2000 the question specifically asks if a person REGULARLY uses the internet for taking courses, other years do not specify regular use.
The question text for the 1998 and 2000 samples includes using the internet to do research for school alongside using the internet to take courses. An affirmative response on this variable could indicate one or both of these uses of the internet.
Universe
- Oct 1997: Persons who use the internet at home.
- Dec 1998, Aug 2000, Sep 2001, and Oct 2003: Persons who use the internet.
