Description

CINETHP indicates whether or not a person accesses the internet from home.

This variable is part of the Computer Internet Supplement.

Comparability

The documentation for October 2012 suggests that the universe is those age 3+, however, the original data has no NIU records.

Researchers should note the universe changes between samples.

Universe

  • Oct 1997: Civilians, age 3 or older, who use a computer connected to the internet at home.
  • Dec 1998 and Aug 2000: Civilians, age 3 or older, who live in a household in which someone uses the internet at home.
  • Sep 2001, Oct 2003, Jul 2015, Nov 2017, Nov 2019, Nov 2021, and Nov 2023: Civilians age 3 or older.
  • Jul 2011: Civilians, age 3 or older, who reported using internet, and having the ability to use the internet at home.
  • Oct 2012: All respondents
  • Jul 2013: Randomly selected civilians, age 3 or older, in MISH 2-4 or 6-8.
