Description

VGULFWAR indicates whether the focal person served on active duty in the first Persian Gulf War Theater, also called Operation Desert Storm. This conflict lasted from August 2, 1990 to February 28, 1991. Service periods for veterans are reported in the basic CPS survey component.

Comparability

This variable is comparable over time.

In 2003 and earlier, Veteran's supplement respondents were 18 and older; in 2005 and later, respondents to the supplement were 17 and older.
