Description
WHYLEFT reports the reason for leaving their most recent job, for respondents who were not currently in the labor force but who had worked at a regular job or business within the past five years. The question, "Why did [this person] leave that job?" was open-ended, with responses coded into 7 specific categories and a residual "other" category. The response "unsatisfactory work arrangements" covered such factors as dissatisfaction with hours and pay. If a respondent specified pregnancy as the reason for leaving the last job, this answer was coded as "personal, family, or school" (code 1) rather than "health" (code 2).
