Description
VOTERESP indicates whether persons completed the Voter Supplement themselves or whether a proxy provided information on their behalf.
Comparability
In 1996, 1998, and from 2012 onward, there are small numbers of persons under 18 years old who are coded as supplement respondents in VOTERESP. This is a feature of the original data. These respondents do not actually have responses to any supplement variables.
This variable is otherwise comparable across available years.
Universe
- 1994 (November): Persons age 18+ and eligible to vote.
- 1996-2024 (November): Persons age 18+.
