See chmc for additional coverage of children <15. Includes persons who are not enrolled in Medicaid, but are covered by another household member's policy. See Appendix T.1 for Census defined conversions of new health insurance variables to old. In 1998 forward, zmcaid=yes no longer includes individuals covered by Indian Health Service. User must use indhealt recode with zmcaid to be equivalent to previous years zmcaid. This is the original release version of the variable, before the inclusion of the verification question. See Appendix T.6.

- Anyone in household covered by medicaid (hmcaid=1).
