UH_WGTBLS_B2 is a 11-digit numeric variable with four implied decimals. That is, 12345678901 should be interpreted as 1234567.8901. The IPUMS command files automatically make the necessary adjustment, so no further adjustment is needed.
Description
Composited final weight for BLS statistics - 2000-2009
Unicon Corporation made the following notes about this variable:
Used to create BLS's published labor force statistics. The 2000-based values for 2000-2002 come from a Census patch file which was appended by Unicon 6/08. The original wgtbls 1990-based values can be found in zwgtbls. Each month in the CPS is weighted independently to adjust to national numbers. To compute counts from the monthly basic files, when taken all together, divide resulting weighted values by 12 to compute annual values. The outgoing rotations files are 1/4 of each of the 12 monthly files (groups 4 and 8). Divide resulting weighted values by 3 (12/4) to compute annual values. The sum of all the weights on one complete year of data would be 3 times too large without this adjustment. (per Census 5/98)
