Topcode flag income: nonfarm self-employed, other job - 1989-2023

Unicon Corporation made the following notes about this variable:
The various income fields have been topcoded to prevent disclosure. In 1989, blanks were represented with unreadable characters. The data in this field were mostly unreadable characters, which were converted to missing. Only 2 out of 144687 person records had data which could be translated. Both of these records had a value of 1. In some years, the top code flags seem to be inconsistent with the actual data. The top code flag for 2000 is completely wrong. See Appendix H.4 for details.
