Poverty level cutoff dollar amount for family - 2002-2023

Unicon Corporation made the following notes about this variable:
[A user notes that in 2000-2003, the values for related subfamilies (famknd=3) are not from the primary family as the Census doc indicates. It is suggested that users retain the primary family's povcut value and apply it to all related subfamilies. Remember, for poverty calculations, the family's total income also needs to come from the primary family's faminc. We have supplied the corrected values for 2000-2003.]

See Appendix X for discussion regarding calculation of poverty rates. Not in Universe (NIU) is well detailed in the manuals for certain years but not for others. 1977, 1981-1985, 1987-1988 have no documentation aside from title of variable. It is assumed that they have the same universe as the other years from 1976-1988. 1976, 1978-1979 NIU is primary and secondary individuals. 1980 NIU is primary and unrelated individuals. 1986 NIU is nonfamily householder and unrelated individuals.

There are two records that have nonsensical values in 2005. These have been recoded to "Missing."
