See chmc for additional coverage of children <15. Includes persons who are not enrolled in Medicaid, but are covered by another household member's policy. See Appendix T.1 for Census defined conversions of new health insurance variables to old. In 1998 forward, mcaid=yes no longer includes individuals covered by Indian Health Service. User must use indhealt recode with mcaid to be equivalent to previous years mcaid. In 2000 this variable was appended from a Census released patch file. The value reflects the results following a new verification item. See zmcaid for the original 2000 value. The 2001 values as released in the Public Use file already incorporate the results of the new verification item (ahiper). See Appendix T.6 for a discussion of these enhanced values.
