Description

STAMPNO specifies the number of current household members covered by Food Stamps during the previous calendar year. See also (FOODSTMP).

Comparability

This variable is comparable across years.

For 1994-2003, codebooks for the public use files of the ASEC CPS label this variable, "Number of children covered by Food Stamps." However, even during these years the ASEC CPS questionnaire asked about the number of current household members of all ages covered by Food Stamps, and analysis of the data indicates that the variable covers Food Stamp recipients of all ages for all years that this variable is available, including 1994-2003.
