Description
SRCSSI reports the source of Supplemental Security Income that respondents received: 1) the U.S. government; 2) state or local government; or 3) both the U.S. government and state/local government. To help respondents accurately identify the source of Supplemental Security Income, interviewers explained that SSI checks from the U.S. government could be identified by their gold color.
Comparability
This variable is comparable over time.
Beginning in 1976, the total amount of Supplemental Security Income an individual received during the previous calendar year is reported in INCSSI.
Universe
- Persons age 15+ who reported receiving SSI payments during the previous calendar year.
