Description
PRVTPART reports whether the respondent had private health insurance coverage during the entire previous year or only part of it. Infants born after the calendar year are not included.
In this variable, "private" includes employment-based, directly purchased, marketplace, non-marketplace, and TRICARE coverage. This definition of private insurance begins with the 2019 ASEC. Prior to 2019, "private" insurance included only employment-based and directly purchased insurance. PHINSUR, reported covered by private insurance last year, adheres to the pre-2019 definition of private insurance.
