Description
PRVTOWNNW reports whether the respondent is the policy holder for their current private insurance coverage.
In this variable, "private" includes employment-based, directly purchased, marketplace, non-marketplace, and TRICARE coverage. This definition of private insurance begins with the 2019 ASEC. Prior to 2019, "private" insurance included only employment-based and directly purchased insurance. PHINSUR, reported covered by private insurance last year, adheres to the pre-2019 definition of private insurance.
