Description
PRVTCOUTLY reports whether the respondent was covered by the private health insurance policy of someone outside the household during the previous year.
In this variable, "private" includes employment-based, directly purchased, marketplace, non-marketplace, and TRICARE coverage. This definition of private insurance begins with the 2019 ASEC. Prior to 2019, "private" insurance included only employment-based and directly purchased insurance.

- 2019-2025 ASEC: Persons born prior to the calendar year and covered by private health insurance last year.
