Description

For civilian adults who did not work during the preceding calendar year, NWLOOK reports the number of weeks such persons spent looking for work or on layoff.

After ascertaining that the individual did not work, even for a few days, during the previous calendar year, the interviewer asked, "Even though you did not work in [year], did you spend any time trying to find a job or on layoff?" If the answer was yes, the interviewer asked, "How many different weeks were you looking for work or on layoff?" Responses to this second question are recorded in NWLOOKWK. A code of "00" indicates that the individual did not work during the preceding calendar year and spent no weeks looking for work or on layoff during this period.
