0 = N.I.U. (Not in Universe).
3 = 3 or More Employers (Topcode).
Description
NUMEMPS reports whether respondents had one, two, or three or more employers during the previous calendar year. If individuals worked more for more than one employer simultaneously, they were to count this as only one employer. NUMEMPS is thus an indicator of job changes across employers over one year, rather than of multiple jobholding at one point in time.
Universe
- 1976-1989: Civilians age 15+ who worked during the preceding calendar year.
- 1990+: Persons age 15+ who worked during the preceding calendar year.
