LKWKFTPT
Looking for full or part-time job

Codes

This variable is not available for any of the currently selected samples.

Description

LKWKFTPT is a dichotomous variable that reports whether persons who were unemployed (either actively looking for work or on layoff from a job) wanted either full-time (coded "1") or part-time (coded "2") work. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics normally counts working 35 hours or more per week as full-time work, and working less than 35 hours per week as part-time work. For LKWKFTPT, interviewers simply asked, "Has [this person] been looking for full-time or part-time work?" This was asked without defining the terms of full-time or part-time work according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics definition.
