HSDAWT is a 10-digit numeric variable with four implied decimals. That is, 1234567890 should be interpreted as 123456.7890. The IPUMS command files automatically divide HSDAWT by 10,000, so no further adjustment is needed.
Description
HSDAWT is a household-level weight that should be used to generate statistics about supplement data on SDA. HSDAWT is the same as HWTSUPP (This variable was renamed. Please see this renaming scheme here.) except for in 2014. In the 2014 ASEC sample, the Census Bureau divided the sample randomly into a 3/8 group and a 5/8 group. The smaller portion of the sample was given the redesigned income questions. SDAWT uses the weight from the 5/8 group so that population counts in SDA are accurate. Please see our User Note on the 3/8 file redesign.
