Description

HRHHID2 is part 2 of the CPS household ID on the original files for all basic monthly samples from May 2004 forward. For January 1994- May 2004, IPUMS created HRHHID2 based on HRSAMPLE, HRSERSUF, and HUHHNUM.

Comparability

HRHHID and HRHHID2 codes are not unique across states in the April 1994 - May 1995 basic monthly samples. Researchers hoping to uniquely identify households in these samples should include STATEFIP as an additional household identifier.
