Description

FSSOUPKMO indicates whether, at any time in the past 30 days, anyone in the household ate meals at a soup kitchen. This question is asked only in households that report receiving emergency food in the past year (FSSOUPK) and is available since 2002.

Only households with incomes below 185% of poverty and higher income households that indicate food access problems in response to preliminary screening questions are asked FSSOUPK, FSSOUPKMO and other questions in section on coping strategies to ameliorate or avoid food deprivation. The screening procedures for match those currently applied to the food security section.

This variable is part of the Food Security Supplement.
