Description
FSLWCFDCM indicates whether or not the household relied on only a few types of low-cost food to feed the children in the past 30 days. This question is first available in 2002 and is asked only of households that reported feeding children a limited number of low-cost foods in the past year because the household was running out of money for food (FSLWCFDC).
This question is one of the 8 items used to construct the 30-day child food security scale, FSSTATUSMC and is also used to determine household food security status FSSTATUSM. Households are screened into the Food Sufficiency and Food Security section of the supplement based on income and preliminary questions on food access (see FSSCREEN for more information).
