Description
FSENGHCM indicates whether the children in the household did not eat enough in the last 30 days because the household could not afford more food. This question is available since 2002 and asked only in households where children did not eat enough in the past year (FSENGHCH).
This question is one of the 8 items used to construct the 30-day child food security scale, FSSTATUSMC and is also used to determine household food security status FSSTATUSM. Households are screened into the Food Sufficiency and Food Security section of the supplement based on income and preliminary questions on food access (see FSSCREEN for more information).
