Description
FSBALMO indicates whether or not the respondent(s) could not afford to eat balanced meals at any time in the last 30 days. This question is first available in 2002 and is asked only in households in which the adults could not afford to eat a balanced meal in the past year (FSBAL).
This variable is part of the Food Security Supplement.
Comparability
In 2007, households in certain months-in-sample were asked experimental versions of (FSBAL). Differences in the comparability of these test questions may impact the comparability of the sample eligible to answer FSBALMO. The responses for 2007 respondents in months-in-sample 3 and 8 have known comparability issues, and analysts may want to exclude these cases from analysis.
In years 2002-2004, FSBALMO is available only for households in months-in-sample 8.
