Description
FRRESL reports the residency of the woman's most recent child, that is, whether the child was still living in the same household or living elsewhere with other relatives or non-relatives. This variable is a part of the CPS Fertility Supplement.
Comparability
The possible responses increased in number and detail between the 1990 and 1995 samples. All possibilities for living with non-relatives are captured in one category in samples prior to 1995, but in 1995, the options for living with non-relatives include living with housemates, in a school dormitory, in military housing, etc. Pre-1995 samples do not differentiate with whom the child lived with if they resided in their own household, but in 1995, responses distinguish whether or not the child was living alone, with a spouse, or with an unmarried partner.
