Description
FREXPECTN5 reports the number of additional children a woman intends to have in the next five years. This variable is a part of the CPS Fertility Supplement.
In 1976, there are two males who have values for FREXPECTN5. Both of these records had their sex allocated by IPUMS. See QSEX for details.
In 1979, all males have a value of zero for FREXPECTN5. These have been recoded to NIU. There are several female records which have values for FREXPECTN5 that are over the age of 59. These are not expected to be in-universe, but they appear in the original data.
Comparability
In 1976, 1977, and 1979, all women are asked how many children they expect to have in the next five years, and so "None" is an option. In 1981 and 1983, only women who had indicated that they intended to have more children in the future (FREXPECT) are asked how many they expect to have in the next five years.
