- UnHarmonized Variables
This variable is not available for any of the currently selected samples.
CWRETEMPANY indicates whether the employer offers a pension or retirement plan to any employees.
This variable is part of the Contingent Work Supplement.
Users should exercise caution when using CWRETEMPANY in samples before 2017. IPUMS-CPS staff were unable to determine a clear universe for this variable in those samples. According to the codebooks, all self-employed respondents should be NIU for CWRETEMPANY. In the data, being self-employed does not seem to be a disqualifier for this variable on its own. However, there are a significant number of self-employed persons who are NIU for an unknown reason in each sample. The number of nonconforming responses in each sample is as follows:
- 1995-1999: Civilians age 16+ who were employed.
- 2001-2005: Civilians in month-in-sample 1-3 or 5-7 age 16+ who were employed.
- 2017: Civilians age 16+ who were employed.
