Description

CWHIEMPNOTEL indicates the reason the ineligible employee could not be covered by the health insurance plan provided by the employer (see CWHIEMPCLD).

This variable is part of the Contingent Work Supplement.

Comparability

This variable is comparable across years.

Universe

  • 1995-1999: Civilians age 16+ who were employed, but not self-employed, reported they did not have health insurance or that their insurance was not provided by their employer AND worked for an employer who offered health insurance plans that the respondent was not eligible for.
  • 2001-2005: Civilians in month-in-sample 1-3 or 5-7 age 16+ who were employed, but not self-employed, reported they did not have health insurance or that their insurance was not provided by their employer AND worked for an employer who offered health insurance plans that the respondent was not eligible for.
  • 2017: Civilians age 16+ who were employed, but not self-employed, reported they did not have health insurance or that their insurance was not provided by their employer AND worked for an employer who offered health insurance plans that the respondent was not eligible for.
