Description

For employed civilians age 15 and older who use a computer at work, CIWEMAIL indicates whether the person indicated electronic mail as one of the uses of their computer at work.

This variable is part of the Computer Internet Supplement.

Comparability

CIWEMAIL is comparable for all available years.

In years 2001 and on, the question includes connecting to the internet along with e-mail as a computer use at work. In 2003 and on, the question also includes instant messaging.
