Comparability

Prior to 1998 the question text only includes the word 'computers.' Starting in 1998, the question text asks about computers or laptops. In 2011 and 2012, the question text asks about "desktop, laptop, netbook, notebook, and tablet computers" in the household.

Universe

  • 1993: Civilians age 15 or older in households with computers.
  • 1997-2003: Persons in households with computers.
  • 2011: Persons age 3 or older.
  • 2012: All persons.
