Description

CICONTYP indicates a household's internet connection type, specifically distinguishing between a dial-up connection and a faster connection type, such as DSL (Direct Subscriber Line), cable modem, satellite, mobile broadband service, or fiber-optic service.

This variable is part of the Computer Internet Supplement.

Comparability

The "Dial-up and faster connection type" code is not available in years prior to 2010, the variable is otherwise comparable for all available years.
