Comparability

In samples prior to 1985, only those 14+ were included in questions regarding paid farm work. Beginning in 1985, children 8 to 13 years old were included in these questions. 1985 and 1987 also include those who did unpaid farm work.

Universe

  • Dec 1977, Dec 1979, Dec 1981, and Dec 1983: Persons 14+ who did any farm work for cash wages or salary even for one day.
  • Dec 1985 and Dec 1987: Persons 8+ who did any farm work even for one day.
