Description
OCC10LY recodes information contained in the variable OCCLY into the 2010 Census Bureau occupational classification system. OCC10LY provides consistent occupational codes for the jobs respondents reported working during the previous calendar year, for 1968 forward. Information on occupation during the previous year is given as it appeared in the original survey data in OCCLY. For both OCCLY and OCC10LY, respondents were to report the jobs they held for the longest time during the previous year.
The occupations of persons employed at the time of the survey is reported in OCC, and this information is recoded into the consistent 2010 occupational classification system in OCC2010. OCC and OCC2010 also provide information about the most recent jobs of persons not employed at the time of the survey.
