Description
GROUPTYP indicates whether group health insurance acquired through a current or past job or union covered only the policyholder or also covered dependents, during the previous calendar year. Policyholders of employment-based insurance are identified in the GROUPOWN variable. Persons who had coverage from such a plan as dependents of a policyholder are identified in the GROUPDEP variable. Whether a policyholder's employment-based health insurance provided coverage for someone outside the household is reported in GROUPOUT.
